View on the city of Leipzig

2022 is turning into a big year for Testbirds! We’ve rebranded and we’re growing fast and extending our reach around the world. Not only did we recently open an office in London to take care of our UK, Ireland, and US customers, but we knew it was time to increase our range within the EU.

It was long in the planning, but we’ll finally open the doors to our new office in the beautiful city of Leipzig on the 1st of April 2022. In addition to our headquarters in Munich, the new office doubles our footprint in Germany and enables us to better assist our clients and support our overall growth strategy.

As one of the biggest tech hubs in Germany, Leipzig is a dynamic environment for start-ups, has had over 500 tech companies set up shop there in the past 10 years, and boasts a young and energetic university scene. There’s a reason it’s the most populated city in the Saxony region and why it consistently ranks among the most livable cities in Germany.

From now on, we’ll call it Hypezig!

But it’s not just its beautiful parks and a lovely mix of modern and classic architecture, or even its amazing Zoo, that caught our eye. From Munich, it’s a straightforward drive and gives us direct access to Northern Germany and beyond – all from Europe’s largest train station!

This is extremely important to us. Being in Leipzig means we can provide tailor-made solutions for our customers ‘up North’ while being best placed to grow our business and our customer base.

All in person.

Steve Jobs

"Incredible things in the business world are never made by a single person, but by a team."

As we fit out the office with all the latest tech, we’ll also be spending quality time looking for a new, Leipzig-based team, to run the show!

This will include some top-notch sales reps and a people-friendly, online-loving crowd management team. However, our primary focus will be in finding tech-savvy project managers to help our clients manage their testing from day one until (and sometimes after) their products are released. They’ll not only be dealing with our existing clients who are in the region (or wanting to spread their solutions north) but will be actively involved in new business.

Of course, with clients ranging from start-ups to billion-dollar global enterprises, game developers to in-car infotainment developers, and everything else in between, they’ll be right in the thick of things.

The next months promise to be genuinely exciting. And the new crew will have to hit the ground running.

They’ll have to plan, execute, monitor & control, and close our customer’s digital projects – while dealing with many of our 1,000,000 crowdtesters in 193 countries.

With experience in project management (particularly regarding IT, user experience, functionality, digital services, and usability), each role will be highly collaborative and, most importantly, essential to maintaining our aim of building a better digital world – together.

They certainly won’t be doing the same thing twice!

David Testbirds Senior Project Manager QA

"There’s no such thing as a "typical" workday in project management."

Jannes Testbirds Project Manager QA

"…most of the time there’s nothing like a typical day for me, which might be the thing I love the most about my job."

This strange new world

Naturally, we can’t ignore the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Opening a new physical office is always a big deal for any organization, now more so than ever.

Traditionally, a physical office is a place where everyone can spontaneously collaborate, easily share their work culture, gain immediate feedback, and much more. At Testbirds, having such a physical ‘meeting place’ is essential to maintain our fun, supportive, trusting, and results-driven culture.

But this doesn’t mean taking unnecessary risks with everyone’s health.

Our business is digital and we’re very aware of the many advantages of using that technology to Work From Home (WFH). Surveys have even shown that WFH has many benefits – check out this fascinating article from The New Yorker – and it can even boost productivity and encourage empathy (because we can all see our colleagues dealing with their day-to-day responsibilities, such as their kids).

For us, our new office is all about being positive that we’ll soon be able to physically bring our crowd together. About being upbeat, forward-thinking, and hopeful. Knowing that the pandemic will end.

Until then, flexibility will be our keyword.

We want the best people and if that means mixing in-person and WFH, even going full-on remote if lockdowns happen again, then that’s the way it’ll be. As the New Yorker article stated, “an office is about the people who work there”. For now, we’ll just have to mix things up. Read this interview with Julia to find out more excellent reasons why you should join our new team in Leipzig.

The important thing is to set down strong and healthy roots in Leipzig that’ll help us grow and achieve our full potential of providing world-class QA, usability & UX testing – and let us truly take flight.

As a company and as a team.
