We are hosting: PHP User Group Munich Meeting

by | Mar 22, 2019 | Events, Career | 0 comments

Will you be there, too? On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, we are happy to host the PHP User Group Munich meeting at the Testbirds office in Munich. There are still a few spots left, so don’t miss the opportunity to join captivating talks and interesting discussions.

PHP at Testbirds

Our core platform at Testbirds is the Nest. This is where all the tests of digital products such as apps, websites and IoT are executed – whether it is Crowd or Cloud. As the platform is written in PHP and currently is undergoing an update from our development team, PHP is a term you hear more than often these days around our office. Next week, the chatter will be even louder, when we welcome around 70 PHP pros and enthusiasts to our Munich office.

Supporting the local PHP community

Given the importance of PHP in our Testbirds platform landscape, we have attended events by PHP User Group Munich several times in the past. Every time, we leave the meeting with many new findings and interesting technical insights and are inspired by the refreshing presentations from members of the group. By hosting the next event, we not only want to support the local community but also are very much looking forward to hearing about some exciting topics.

Let’s encrypt 1o1
Carsten Mahr (TNG Technology Consulting) is going to speak about Let’s Encrypt, an automated and open certificate authority that’s free of cost. The importance of layer security and how both cryptography and CA can work together to constitute it is only one aspect of Mahr’s discussion on Wednesday. The talk takes a practical approach – specifically, how is Let’s Encrypt able to ensure domain ownership in an automated way and how can ACME clients be built relying on Linux on-board means only. Come and find out!

The day I deleted the OWASP PHP security project
Sven Rautenberg (Vodafone) will tell us about the time he found himself involved in a Google-funded project to create “a secure PHP library”. It seemingly ended poorly, given the topic of his presentation, but how did it happen and what are the details? Only by attending Wednesday can you find out!

Schedule
6:30pm – 7:00pm – Socializing (with pizza, soft drinks and some beer)
7:00pm – 7:45pm – Let’s Encrypt 101
7:45pm – 8:00pm – Break
8:00pm – 8:45pm – The day I deleted the OWASP PHP security project
After the second talk there will be the possibility for further discussions.

What is the PHP user group?

PHP User Group Munich is a local community group with more than 1,000 members all relating to or interested in PHP, PHP development, and PHP frameworks. Everyone is welcome in the community – from novices to experts. The group is founded via meetup, a platform for finding and building local communities, meeting new people, learning new things, and supporting each other in pursuing their passions.
