Client Wiesn 2019: Bugs, Bier & Brezn

Retail has faced unprecedented challenges this past year (and counting).

You know, being a Munich-based company can be really tough - especially during the two weeks at the end of September and beginning of October. Why? Because you can’t be a Munich company without visiting the Wiesn with your clients.

With our Munich office located right next to the Wiesn venue and overlooking the Oktoberfest, we are so to say “forced” to go there with our clients at least once. (By the way, we aren’t really unhappy about that at all, but the day after, most of the company is just very, very tired which may make things seem a bit different ;) )

Yesterday we were more than happy to welcome our valued clients to our yearly client Wiesn with the motto “Bugs, Bier & Brezn”. We invited over 60 clients from more than 24 companies to spend the day with us.

Bugs, Bier & Brezn 2019: The Agenda

After welcoming our guests we started with a traditional Bavarian breakfast - what else would you expect? We offered Weißwurst (a typical Bavarian veal sausage) and Obatzda (a Bavarian cheese speciality) with Brezn (pretzels) and of course - for those who couldn’t wait - Bavarian beer. We then started the day with our practice-oriented workshop about digitalisation and artificial intelligence. Our clients and partners had the chance to share their thoughts and experiences with our guests, and helped us make the morning really insightful and filled with interesting discussions

Afterwards, we headed to the Oktoberfest which is only 200m away from our Munich headquarters. We had tables in the Löwenbräu tent where the afternoon was spent with networking, beer, and food. Our colleagues really did their best to introduce our guests - especially those from the northern parts of Germany - to our Bavarian culture and give them some dos and don’ts for their visit to the Wiesn.

Testbirds Client Oktoberfest: Topics of the Day

We were more than happy that we found four great speakers to present their thoughts, experiences, and learnings in the fields of digitalisation and artificial intelligence. The morning was started by Christian Gondek, Director UX & Digital Journey Design at AGCO. He talked about “Digital User Experience – How Digitalisation Changes Agriculture.” He was followed by Jann Kirchhoff, Product Success Manager at BMW Motorrad, who gave us an introduction into how they turned BMW Motorrad fans into a part of the digital product development.

After a short break, we welcomed Dr. Sc. Felix Friemann, CEO of logarithmo, and Stephan Odörfer, CEO of 4tiitoo, to the stage. They told us about their ideas of how to replace the keyboard and mouse with the help of AI. Last but not least, Matthias Aßenmacher, PhD Student and Research Assistant at LMU Munich, shared insights into our joint project about the evaluation of qualitative user feedback by means of modern NLP methods.

We can truly say that we enjoyed our client Wiesn 2019 a lot, although the office is filled with a lot of tired faces today. But, this actually means that they stayed long because they enjoyed it - don’t you think? :)
Also, we believe that the mixture of workshops, with clients who share their thoughts and show how crowdtesting helps them develop awesome products, and the fun part of networking at the Oktoberfest, perfectly reflects how we work with clients and how we shape the relationship between clients and Testbirds.
