I’m Susanne and this is my role at Testbirds

My Role at Testbirds is a series of blog posts that give insights into the daily life at the office. Every so often, one of our employees will introduce you to his or her line of work and share some helpful tips. This week features our team member Susanne Reichert who is responsible for making Testbirds famous in the DACH market, as Senior PR and Marketing Manager.Origin/Background:I was born and bred in Munich (which I find to be the loveliest city in the world!). I originally had my mind set on becoming a journalist, but then I realized that writing for businesses was a lot of fun. That brought me into the PR and marketing field instead. Now I am really happy that I chose that path! I have also been studying politics, communication, and law. It is perfect that I get to combine those interests with my work as well. I always have interesting discussions about news and the world with my team. What you do at Testbirds:At Testbirds I am responsible for PR and Marketing in Germany. That includes overall strategy, events/trade shows, writing content like case studies, press releases, blog posts and handling journalists’ requests. It is a truly a varied job and no day is like the other. Current Computer: Lenovo Ideapad with Windows 10, Ultrabook. I recently bought it since my old Dell PC was slow and crashed every time I opened my e-mail account. Kind of hard to work without your e-mail…  Current mobile device: Samsung Galaxy S7. I like it a lot! Especially the big display. It makes it really simple to use it for work as well. One word that best describes how you work:EfficientA typical work day consists of: Starting with breakfast and coffee while reading e-mails. I like to get that full overview right at the start of the day. After answering important emails, I jump straight in to my to-do lists (yes, I love lists!). Typical tasks during the day are writing a blog post, working on strategies for German PR and Marketing and handling the marketing budget. What apps/software/tools can’t you live without (and why)?  What’s your workspace setup like?First of all, I could not work without Outlook. I flag important emails and work with the calendar function a lot. Without that, I would be lost. My workspace is a nice stand-up desk next to the window, so I always have enough light and fresh air. What’s your best time-saving keyboard shortcut?Very simple, but very important: Control + C, Control + V (copy/paste)Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without (and why)?I am the type of person who still enjoys handwriting a lot. Especially, when you work in a completely digital environment, I think it is healthy for the brain to switch and to write down notes manually. I feel like it sticks better to your mind. Therefore, I always have a note book right next to me at the desk.   Name one everyday thing where you are better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?Saying that I’m better than everyone else at something, would be arrogant in my opinion, but I’m very well-known here at the office for laughing a lot. Of course, not everything is funny all the time, but especially during times with a high workload, it is crucial not to lose your sense of humor. This helps a lot and keeps up a good spirit in the team. What do you like to do outside of work?I like to calm down with yoga, meditation, reading, meeting friends and family, watching movies and series, eating, swimming, seeing new places and things, playing the guitar (too rarely, unfortunately). What’s the best advice/life motto you’ve ever heard? “Better is the enemy of the good” by Voltaire. It is true for many things, both in work as well as in private life. Of course, you should be able to be satisfied with something, but being too satisfied keeps you from becoming better (and the best version of yourself). If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?I am curious to meet the German chancellor Angela Merkel. It would be truly interesting to get to know her personality a little, as she has such a remarkable CV. I mean she is already an important person in history by being the first female German chancellor and all the crises she has managed over time.
