1. Origin/Background:I was born and bred in the Netherlands. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in computer science, I gained vast experience in various large corporations. I have worked as a business development and project manager, business analyst and account manager in Europe, India, the Middle East, South Africa and the US.2. Your role at Testbirds:I’m responsible for the Business Development and Sales in the Benelux market3. Current mobile device/tablet:Samsung Galaxy SIII & Samsung Galaxy Note 8.4. One word that best describes how you work:Fabusylastic (a combination of the words fabulous, busy and fantastic).
5. A typical work day consists of:As I am responsible for Testbirds’ expansion in the Benelux market, a typical work day revolves around communicating with current and prospective clients. The process includes everything from market investigation to cold/warm calling, presentations, creating proposals and closing deals. I also represent Testbirds at various trade shows where Testbirds is exhibiting, including Mobile World Congress and Apps World.6. What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?I can’t imagine doing my work without all the typical Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc. When working remotely, wifi as well as chat and phone functions (Skype, Lync and PhonerLite) are absolutely essential.7. What’s your workspace setup like?I travel a lot for meetings, so besides the average day at the office, my workspace is pretty much anywhere that I have access to my laptop or phone. I joke that sometimes my car becomes my second workspace. 8. What’s your best time-saving shortcut?The best time-saving shortcut for me is having a Dutch buddy in the Munich office, someone who forms a bridge between the office in the Netherlands and the headquarters in Germany. Tom and Viviane act as my right and left hands (Tom and Viviane are part of the Benelux business development team working from Munich). 9. Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without?Even though I work for an IT company, I am not much of a gadget man myself, so I would probably consider my caravan as my favourite “gadget”. It gives me freedom, clears my mind and allows me to rest.10. What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret? I consider my greatest strength to be interpersonal communications: I’m enthusiastic, honest and good at engaging with customers. It is my personal belief that the way you act, both professionally and privately, should come from within. 11. What do you like to do outside work?Generally I spend my free time focusing on my wife, my dog, our vacations, family & friends as well as volunteering for Kiwanis International.12. What’s the best advice/life motto you’ve ever heard?“Live with your heart” and “Do it today because tomorrow is too late”.13. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?If it would be possible I would like to meet with Nelson Mandela, one of the greatest influencers of modern times. 14. Anything else to add that might be interesting to others?Working in an enthusiastic team fades boundaries like age and distance.
