I am Mounir and this is my role at Testbirds

My Role at Testbirds is a series of blog posts that gives insights into the daily life at the office. Every so often, one of our employees will introduce you to his or her line of work and share some helpful tips. This week features our team member Mounir, who is part of our Sales Team for the DACH region.Origin/Background:I was born in Munich as a child of an Austrian mother and a Tunisian father, which met here in Germany. I grew up in a suburb called “Karlsfeld” and last year I moved to Munich. So as I never left the wider area, I am deep- seated here and I couldn’t imagine to live anywhere else! After I graduated school in 1999, I enrolled in commercial education. The first years of my career I’ve worked in the steel business, while I was also studying in the evenings to get my diploma in business administration. Then in 2015 I started at Testbirds. What you do at Testbirds:I work in the DACH- Sales Team and we do typical sales stuff, like getting in contact with the customers, advise them, showing our products, give support and answering their questions.Current Computer:A Home Entertainment PC, which I have built on my own, so it has no special name.Current mobile device:Samsung Galaxy S4 – should get a new one though. 🙂One word that best describes how you work:FastA typical work day consists of:First of all: coffee. After that: checking emails, making phone calls, sending offers, showing our products by using webcasts. It depends on the day. Sometimes I spend the whole day making phone calls, sometimes my day is packed with client meetings. And other times something completely different comes up. It never gets boring for me.What apps/software/tools can’t you live without (and why)?Whatsapp – to keep in touch with my friends. But to be honest, I am a child of the 80s: I already proved that I can live without any apps. What’s your workspace setup like?Clean. I don’t like too much things on my desk, except for my block and my pen. What’s your best time-saving keyboard shortcut?Alt + Tab, to switch between the programs.Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without (and why)?My coffee machine: because there is no “life” without coffee.Name one everyday thing where you are better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?Better than everyone else!? To be honest: nothing! I think, there is always someone else, whose better – if you aren’t Usain Bolt. But I think I can cook quite well, especially Arabic food. And my secret!? Most of my friends wouldn’t know how to compare my cooking to other Arabic food anyway. So they think it tastes good. 🙂What do you like to do outside work?I like going out for dinner or cinema with my girlfriend, going to concerts, watching movies, doing sports like football, muay thai and jogging. And also I love to travel and to cook. What’s the best advice/life motto you’ve ever heard?Don’t talk the talk, if you can’t walk the walk! (It’s from a Wu- Tang Song, so it has to be right). If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?My grandparents from Austria, which I’ve never had the chance to meet.Anything else to add that might be interesting to others?Ben is a part of my last name, not my first name.
