Crowdtesting – A How-To Guide for testing successfully

Retail has faced unprecedented challenges this past year (and counting).

Over the last couple of years, crowdtesting has become a more and more popular complimentary method to ensuring a high quality of mobile apps, websites, online shops and Internet of Things applications. This level of popularity is also reflected in Testbirds’ development since 2011 and in our crowd which now consists of more than 150,000 testers in 193 countries worldwide. Over one thousand projects in crowdtesting and test automation have been done by us so far and every day we see new innovations popping up in the digital world that need to be tested extensively to win consumers’ enthusiasm.

What to be aware of

The success of crowdsourced testing is largely due to the several ways it is able to overcome the many challenges of software development. With crowdsourced testing, not only do companies receive the possibility to test with real users under real conditions, but they also gain access to a huge variety of devices and operating systems. Furthermore, it is fast, flexible and unbiased testers bring in a new perspective into the development process confronting the issue of organizational blindness. However, to benefit from its many advantages, the characteristics of the method need to be taken into consideration. In many ways, crowdtesting differs from traditional methods when it comes to checking the functionality and usability of digital products. Therefore, we developed a handy How-to Guide that explains to our clients such as testing managers, decision makers or product owners and of course all other people who are interested in crowdtesting, what they have to be aware of to successfully perform crowdtesting. These 10 facts among others are what companies have to do internally to integrate the method into their development process as well as describe the responsibilities of service providers. Our “How-to Guide to Crowdtesting - 10 critical factors to successfully perform remote testing with the crowd” is now available as a free download in German, English and Dutch. Check it out to learn more about the method and contact us if you have any further questions.Happy testing!
