Want to play buzzword-bingo? Let’s talk about AI and 5G!

AI is obviously one of the key topics for this year’s Mobile World Congress starting next week. In this context, the “transformative effect on consumers, enterprises, and governments around the world” is highlighted. In our opinion, those transformative effects can only be effectively implemented if the applications and services work properly – and they can only work when they are tested thoroughly beforehand and when the algorithms got enough input to learn from.

How to turn bad customer experience into good?

Just to give an example of why testing AI-services is so important: Most of you probably know all different kinds of chatbots that pop up as you visit a website. What can be more annoying than a chatbot whose help you need but that just doesn’t understand you? When you ask a question in various ways but cannot get a proper answer? Surely, that chatbot didn’t benefit from any Testbirds service.

The key point is that AI needs to learn. To be able to learn, AI and machine learning algorithms need training data to learn from. Many companies though struggle to get enough training data for their machines to learn – and of course, this is the bottleneck. What we can do is to help the algorithms getting input in terms of data to learn from, showing how the AI solution is used in real life and what the actual target group is – with the help of our crowd. We do not test the code behind the intelligence of the applications but rather the actual outcome – optimally before the release. Imagine your service is released to collect documents for training. However, the service doesn’t work smoothly yet, because it didn’t have enough training data by now. Welcome to a vicious circle that could have been prevented by testing it beforehand or collecting enough training data.

AI and 5G – a good match, not only acoustically

AI can be widely used for many different use cases. The highlight is that Testbirds serves them all. Be it use cases where you need documents for training issues or input and ideas for your chatbot – our crowd has it all!

However, let’s add another buzzword to this – because what would AI be without 5G? Obviously, both topics are closely linked to each other. 5G ensures quick data transfers, higher system capacity, and massive device connectivity. One major usage scenario of 5G is the so-called Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC). Those services enable higher system capacities and facilitate the usage of Smart Home devices – devices that use Artificial Intelligence to learn from their user’s behavior and enhance the user experience. Again – those Internet of Things devices and services can be improved by testing through Testbirds!

Talking about 5G, it is worth mentioning that Connectivity, thus 5G, is another event theme at the MWC. Together with AI, it will be part of many keynotes and get-togethers.

After all – how many bingos did you have?

If you want to talk about Tech and Testing rather than playing Bingo, visit us at our booth 59-6 in Hall 8.1 on MWC. We are looking forward to meeting you!
