Meet our Top UK Tester: Anita

In order to celebrate the opening of our new London office, we’ve invited Anita, our tester with the most experience points in the UK, to tell us about her time testing for Testbirds.

Hi Anita! Tell us a little about yourself.
I live in Northampton with my husband and three children. We moved here 3 years ago from Hungary, because of my husband’s job. Back in Hungary I worked as an accountant at one of the Big Four audit firms. After my first daughter was born I wanted to do something new. I was always interested in IT, so I started to study software development and graduated as an IT engineer in 2014.
Now I am looking for a job which I can do from home and I keep learning – my goal is to get an international certificate in IT. During this time I am testing for Testbirds.

How did you find out about Testbirds?
I read an article about Testbirds on a Hungarian website. I do my best during testing and fortunately Testbirds appreciates it: I was quickly chosen as the Bird of the Month on the Hungarian Testbirds site.

What is the weirdest bug you’ve found while testing?
A banking app had the weirdest bug I have found. I made some bank transfers in it and realized, that if I did not fill in the transaction date, something weird happened. Sometimes these transactions were successful, but sometimes they weren’t. I really wanted to know what was going on with these transactions. What was the difference between them? Finally, I found out that the default value of the transaction date field was the current date, and it worked only if I made the transfer during the opening hours of the bank.

What hobbies do you have besides testing?
I like reading, walking, and learning new things. I also like to re-explore the world with my children.

How did you get to be the top UK tester and what’s your secret?
I didn’t realize that I am the top UK tester, that’s wonderful! I always try to do my best during testing. When I receive an invitation, I read it carefully and I sign up for the test only if I am free during the testing phase. I start testing as early as possible to have enough time to finish it and to do additional checks to find more bugs and usability issues.
I do spend a lot of time on checking and analyzing a bug before I submit the ticket, since I need to understand what is wrong with the code and want to give as much information to the client as possible to help them fix it.
