I’m Sören and this is my role at Testbirds

My Role at Testbirds is a series of blog posts that gives insights into the daily life at the office. Every so often, one of our employees will introduce you to his or her line of work and share some helpful tips. This week features our new team member Sören Sdun who is working on our UK expansion.Origin/Background: I grew up in Schleswig-Holstein, a small piece of land between Hamburg and Denmark. Yes, there is a bit of Germany in between. Afterwards I studied Political Science in Hanover for 3 ½ years. What you do at Testbirds: I’m an Intern for International Business Development. I’ll be in the Munich HQ for 4 weeks to get to know the company and the team. Afterwards I’ll support the UK team in London to start the new office. Still trying to wrap my head around this mind blowing company!Current Computer: Lenovo Thinkpad T410Current mobile device: Samsung Galaxy S3 (4th screen)One word that best describes how you work: AlternatingA typical work day consists of: A well-coordinated mix of doing research, listening to meetings and eating apples. What apps/software/tools can’t you live without (and why)? Spotify. I couldn’t commute, go out running, relax after work, or do housework without music. The app just gives so many awesome suggestions for every possible mood. Having a bad day? Spotify solves it. Having a good day? Spotify increases it. Having a good work flow? Spotify gives you the perfect music to think. What’s your workspace setup like? Sören's Desk(Coming soon: Desk Upgrade, yeha!) What’s your best time-saving shortcut?Asking others for advice. It will always save you time and trouble when approaching new topics. Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without (and why)? Not sure if this is considered to be a gadget, but I couldn’t live without my small French Press and a good, fair coffee. Both help me getting outside of the house every single morning. What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?Obviously not playing foosball, that’s for sure. (Cheers to Martin) Probably being a devil’s advocate in team tasks. Taking an opposite side to challenge your own team is a good way to improve the outcome. What do you like to do outside work?Watching American TV shows, going for a run in the Englischer Garten, riding my single speed bike and shittalking with friends about random stuff. What’s the best advice/life motto you’ve ever heard? Not really a motto, but there seem to be two kind of people: Designers and Victims. Victims always seem to blame others for problems and always complain about bad stuff. Designers just accept things as they are and try to make the best out of difficult situations. I just don’t want to be one of those annoying people who always complain about everything. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?John OliverAnything else to add that might be interesting to others?Don’t take things too seriously, irony and sarcasm are helpful life companions.
