I’m Emily and this is my role at Testbirds

My Role at Testbirds is a series of blog posts that gives insights into the daily life at the office. Every so often, one of our employees will introduce you to his or her line of work and share some helpful tips. This week features Emily Fielding, who is responsible for the Sales and Business Development for Testbirds UK. Origin/Background: I’m from Perth, Australia! I landed in the Testbirds nest in Munich after completing my Masters in Barcelona. What you do at Testbirds: Sales and Business Development for the United Kingdom. So, I spend quite a bit of time in the fine city of London.Current Computer: Macbook Pro circa 2011.Current mobile device: iPhone 4, a hand-me-down from my far more up-to-date mother. One word that best describes how you work: Passionately.A typical work day consists of: That’s what I love about sales – my day is all about talking to people and drinking coffee! What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? Being on the other side of the world from my friends and family means that most of the apps I use are for communication – WhatsApp, Viber, Skype and Snapchat. And the ‘book of course. What’s your work setup like?  I would like to say organised chaos, but I might be exaggerating on the organised front. Creating a filing system is on my to-do list… Now, where did I put my to-do list?!What’s your best time-saving shortcut? Don’t procrastinate or overthink it – just do it!Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without (and why)? Considering the battle I had with my smoke alarm last night, I would say a toaster (frying bread on the stove was a bad idea). What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret? Puns. I would tell you one right now, but it’s currently punavailable. What do you like to do outside work? I love going to the movies and when I’m at home in Australia, I love the beach! What’s the best advice/life motto you’ve ever heard? When something in life is challenging or stressful, I try to ask myself, “does this make you more happy, or more sad?”. It’s incredibly simple, but it helps to stay motivated to work on what’s important, and remember to leave behind trouble that’s not worth it.If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Tough question! I’m gonna go with my late Grandmother who died before I was born.Anything else to add that might be interesting to others? My favourite German expression: “Everything has an end, only the wurst has two”. And so, this blog post is too, at an end.
