My Role at Testbirds is a series of blog posts that gives insights into the daily life at the office. Every so often, one of our employees will introduce you to his or her line of work and share some helpful tips.
This week features Barbara Böhm from the Admin Department of Testbirds in Munich. As administration assistant, Barbara is in charge of maintaining all our birds. On top of that she designs all the flyers, t-shirts, displays and more for Testbirds.
I am German and I primarily grew up in Landshut, a beautiful Middle Age town in Lower Bavaria. Now, I am in the upper part of Bavaria where I have lived for over half my life. I love it the mountains, lakes and nature. To a normal school background I added some experiences in pharmacy, studies of economies and graphical training and I am looking forward to learning more.
What you do at Testbirds:
I am the Assistant of the founders, but also primarily responsible for graphic design and event organization. This includes internal events as well as conferences and trade shows that Testbirds take part in.
Like all Testbirdies I am using a Lenovo Laptop. Don’t ask me for the technical details. Even with cars the only important thing for me is that the thing is running.
Current mobile device:
My brand-new mobile is an iPhone 5C. After some experiments with other manufacturers it is the one I enjoyed using the most.
One phrase that best describes how you work:
“With a drop of chaos”
A typical work day consists of:
Just to list the most important ones: right hand to the boss, checking emails, writing invoices, working on event organization, mothering, designing and so on.
What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?
None. Apps and software are tools that keep me from living my life!
What’s your work space setup like?
I am situated in a single room at Testbirds, accompanied only by the office printer. My desk always seems too small, but I am proud to have a separate working table. My room is also used as storage every so often.
What’s your best time-saving shortcut?
Str+S; for saving the important documents
Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without (and why)?
Radio or anything that plays music, because I love to listen to a good song and interesting reports – but not the whole day please.
What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?
“BOB” which means the combination of my bad English combined with my weird personality.
What do you like to do outside work?
I only want to mention some: Nature, Sun, Sport, Sewing, Reading, all creative stuff, dancing, museums and galleries, eating, Traveling.
What’s the best advice/life motto you’ve ever heard?
The book “The four agreements” from Miguel Ruiz is always recommendable.
What are you doing right now?
I am working although normally Friday is my day off. Busy times, right?
