I am Franzi and this is my role at Testbirds

My Role at Testbirds is a series of blog posts that gives insights into the daily life at the office. Every so often, one of our employees will introduce you to his or her line of work and share some helpful tips. This week features our new team member Franzi (the II), who from now on supports the Marketing/PR DACH Team.Origin/Background: Originally I come from a town called Willich, which always makes people chuckle as it sounds like the German word for “willing”. Therefore, I prefer to say that I grew up in fancy Düsseldorf. After school I took a gap year and went on a “travel and work” trip to Australia. I left out the “work” part and it was one of the best (and most expensive) decisions I have ever made. Once I got back to reality I decided to study “Kulturwirt” in Essen, which is a not directly translatable combination of Economics and Spanish cultural and language studies. Currently, I am in the 7th semester with the goal to finish my bachelor degree in July next year. What you do at Testbirds: I am an intern in marketing and PR for the DACH area. My job is to assist in writing articles, blog posts and whitepapers, to do all kinds of research, to help with journalist correspondence and to support the planning of events, conferences and trade shows. Current Computer: Lenovo Thinkpad T410sCurrent mobile device: Samsung Galaxy S4One word that best describes how you work:Willingly.A typical work day consists of: Coming to the office out of breath because I have to cycle uphill. Coffee. Then checking E-Mails followed by a good mix of writing, reading and thinking. But most importantly: I learn something new every day here at Testbirds. What apps/software/tools can’t you live without (and why)? Whatsapp, especially now that my friends and I are spread all over Germany. Then definitely Spotify and the “Deutsche Bahn” app. And Google Maps, which helps me find my way around big and beautiful Munich. What’s your workspace setup like? Surprisingly clean and tidy – and there is always food.franziska-rduch-deskWhat’s your best time-saving shortcut?STRG + F. The F stands for fairy, since it’s like a magical helper that tells you exactly where to look to find what you desire. Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without (and why)?My smoothie blender! Why? It’s obvious, it can make smoothies and something called nicecream and you can even make soups. I love it.What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?Well, I am a really good snoozer. My secret is long-lasting experience in listening to my three to five alarms, no matter how annoying the ringtone. Fortunately I have a “last call” alarm that prevents me from oversleeping so I usually manage to be on time.  What do you like to do outside work?Yoga and museums and dancing. I am really looking forward to seeing all the cultural stuff Munich has to offer. Also I do a lot of vegetarian cooking and it’s a hobby of mine to discover new crazy extremely healthy recipes. What’s the best advice/life motto you’ve ever heard?Everything is temporary. Don’t get attached, just enjoy. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?Boyan Slat. At the age of 16 he decided to clean up the plastic waste in our oceans after he saw a lot of pollution while diving in Greece. Then he simply got to work, he did the research on how to do it best, he founded his own company, developed cheap but effective machinery and in 2016 his floating clean up structure will be deployed. My personal modern superhero!Anything else to add that might be interesting to others?I have a crush on unicorns but please do not use this against me.
